The long Scotland adventure (see previous blog posts) during May that spilled into the start of June left me with just a few weeks for other Photography outings this month. Between wrapping up my time at my previous job (more on that in a moment) and the recent heatwave, there hasn't been much time to go out with the camera! However, I have managed (with a couple of days left in the month) to finish my School of Photography 'Alphabet' assignment and fit in some excellent walks in the New Forest!

Lyndhurst Parish Walk

With all the warm weather this month, I've purposefully chosen to look for walks which are at least partially shaded and that has taken me to the New Forest on two occasions. The first was a fantastic 8 mile circular following the parish boundary of Lyndhurst. The walk became 10 miles with a few missed turns and just the general enjoyment of the route. The village of Lyndhurst itself also happened to be a very enjoyable place to visit with all of its independent shops and some fantastic local ice cream!

Lepe Loop and Exbury Gardens

The second outing was Lepe and Exbury. Picking up the brilliantly devised Lepe Loop this circular walk was already incredibly varied with its inclusion of quiet and tranquil Lepe Beach as well as the edge of the New Forest. The nearby Exbury Gardens made for an excellent 'short' diversion and brought the total walk to just over 10 miles. The display of Hydrangeas was particularly stunning in the sunshine.

Alphabet Adventures

I have been a member of The School of Photography now for around a year; each month they set an assignment to get you out with the camera, practicing with different skills. Normally, the idea is to sumbit one or two photos on the assignment set. This month was slightly different; they set 'The Alphabet' assignment. This is a common photography assingmnets completed by students, the idea is to try and find the letters of the alphabet in every day objects; so that's actually 26 photos - or more if you're trying to perfect letters along the way. I didn't manage to review the full assingment details until I got back from Scotland, so I wasn't expecting to manage complete the assingment.

However, I was on the lookout for letters everywhere as I completed my adventures across the New Forest and I am pleased to say I managed it with the completed submission below!

Other Alphabet Adventures

On the subject of the Alphabet; I'm making a work related jump through the letters this month. After a 20 year connection with Zurich Insurance, I am taking on an exciting new role at AXA Health. I won't dwell on the topic too much here as this is my photography blog - but it's a big change for me personally. It does bring some Photography adventures with it as I'll be regularly travelling along to Bristol as well as Bournemouth and Tunbridge Wells and probably more.

I’m incredibly proud to have worked for an organisation that makes the kind of difference to the wider community like Zurich and hope to do more of the same at AXA.

Until next time,

Kenny
